[Hong Kong] On EIA of Express Rail Link

On EIA of Express Rail Link

Dear all,

As you probably know, an Express Rail Link is planned to be built between Mai Po and West Kowloon, running across Tai Lam, Lam Tsuen, Tai Mo Shan and Shing Mun Country Parks as well as large areas of farmland in Shek Kong/Kam Tin. The EIA of the project has come out for public consultation from 21 July to 19 Aug., 2009. In response to it, we have written some critical comments, now circulating among friends and groups to draw their attention to the major problems of the EIA. See http://oxra-2009.blogspot.com/#enabstract for summary in English and http://oxra-2009.blogspot.com/ for full version in Chinese.

In view of the sloppiness and lack of ecological perspectives of the EIA, we shall call for the EPD Director to reject the EIA report. We hope your expertise will help bring the government and other parties concerned to comply with their duties in the relevant regards.

Yours sincerely,
OXRA (Opposing Express Rail-link Alliance)
