Birdwatching in Tokyo and Miyakejima (三宅島) - Part II Landbirds in Miyakejim

Miyakejima is a volcano island 200km south of Tokyo in the Pacific Ocean. The volcano (雄山)is active and erupt every 20 years. Last eruption was in 2002 and the Island was closed for 3 years, reopening in 2005. The main birdwatching area is around a small lake in the south side of the island where all the birds are easy and tame!
The 3 endemics (or near endemics) are: Izu Island Thrush, Ijima Leaf Warbler and Japanese Woodpigeon
