Surprisingly, curlews are very rarely caught in Hong Kong and to date only 1 bird has been leg-flagged here (with the HK combination of white over yellow on the right leg).
I know that this bird has been seen in the flock this winter.
I believe that the species is also rarely trapped elsewhere along the flyway, and I am not aware of any other leg-flag resightings in HK. If there have been any, this would be very interesting.
Please remember to report any sightings of waders carrying leg flags as this helps to understand the important stopover sites for the species involved. Author: yyattung Time: 22/01/2007 16:08
As John said, only the HK bird has been re-sighted at Mai Po recently. I haven't seen nor heard any report of other ringed Curlew.
Jimmy: how many birds have you colour-flagged so far?
