Great timing, John!
Your 800 is way sharper than your 600 you had ...

The action captured here is intriguing. The wing spread, the bending of the knees, the crooked neck, the dire gaze on the fish as well as the turbulence on the water surface all link with one another to portray the skilful and swifty preying action of this heron. Though the action has been frozen, viewers are led to think on from what are presented in the photograph. That think-on feeling is like the aftertaste of a delicious dish and it is that that I find this shot intriguing.

I'm glad people liked the photo
There was a recent paper about the interaction of various species with Black-faced Spoonbills : - pdf here

BFS seems to be a natural "victim" of birds with sharp beaks, like herons.  This time a BFS chased a fish into the shallows but was denied the catch by the heron which raised its' wings to intimidate the BFS -

"You snooze, you lose!" the heron seems to be saying.

PS - You're right Bob T., I wouldn't like to lend the 800mm to you

PPS - Happy New Year to ALL
