South-west Lantau

South-west Lantau

I was on south-west Lantau on Saturday, looking for migrants. I walked from Shek Pik to Kau Ling Chung, Fan Lau and on to Tai O.
A good selection of migrants were present, including the following:

Chinese Goshawk - 31. Mostly perched or low-flying and giving very good views. Also 1 unidentified Accipiter, probably another Chinese.
Grey-faced Buzzard - 1 probable flushed from trees but not seen well
Swinhoe's Egret - 2 (One at Yi O, one at Tai O)
Grey-streaked Flycatcher - 3
Chestnut Bunting - 3
Arctic Warbler - 1
Brown Shrike - 2
Ashy/Swinhoe's Minivet - 2 (not seen well enough for certain ID)
Grey Wagtail - 11, including 2 seen coming in from the sea at Fan Lau
Yellow Wagtail - 23. Most at Tai O but also newly-arrived birds seen flying over the southern hillsides
Yellow-browed Warbler - 5
Pacific Swift - 6
Black Drongo - 1
Ruddy-breasted Crake - 1 at Tai O
Wood sandpiper - 20 at Tai O
Long-toed Stint - 4 at Tai O

Other good birds included 2 Crested Serpent Eagle, 2 Crested Goshawk (including 1 displaying at a Chinese Goshawk), Peregrine, Intermediate Egret, Black-capped Kingfisher, Emerald Dove
