Lamma Island - Winter 2009/2010

25 Dec 2010

Took a nice early morning walk around South Lamma Island.  Nothing too rare but a nice mix of birds.  Almost no one out the path so birding was pleasant but a little windy.

1 Verditer Flycatcher
2 Black-naped Monarch
1 Mugimaki Flycatcher
3 Dusky Warbler
3 Yellow-browed Warbler
3 Pallas's Leaf Warbler
1 Russet Bush Warbler (respond to spishing but never come out in the open as much Brownish-flanked Bush Warblers)
7 Brownish-flanked Bush Warbler
1 Japanese Bush Warbler
5 Asian Stubtail Warblers
2 Japanese Thrush
1 Pale Thrush

Photos of Verditer, Mugimaki, Russet Bush, and Brownish Flanked Bush Warbler.

Just had a walk over to Sok Kwu Wan.
In the estuary about 30 Great egrets & 50 or so Little Egrets & 2 Grey Heron... nothin g much else on the mudflats ecept a Common Kingfisher.

Around Lo So Shing...... hundreds of birds
A flock of 50 or so Chinese Bulbuls
50 or so Thrushes of various species
A couple of Flycatchers
Daurian Redstarts everywhere
Lots of Pipits
And many other birds

On the hiulls,
Sooty-headed Bulbuls
Several Hwamei
Thrushes in the undergrowth

Sorry can't be more specific but no binoculars & can't identify many of the birds.
But should be worth a trip by a birder.
