[Tropicbirds] Red-throated Loon

Red-throated Loon

Date: 17/03/2016
Place: Lamma Island
Time:4:50pm

I was tipped by Guy Miller to shoot the Little Egrets, Black kites during sun set. I did as he advised this afternoon. Then I saw a white thing floating in water which I took it as rubbish in the first glance. However, the rubbish turned out to be this rare beauty.

Thanks Guy Miller !

Wish all birders best luck !

As my understanding, there are no more than several records in Hong Kong.It seem to me that is a non breeding plumage.
鳥攝時要同時用心感受雀鳥的生態,達到人鳥和諧的境界。

Yes,it is non-breeding plumage. Thanks!

Thank you... is a great find... maybe lamma slowly gets on the birding map..... really well captured.
Was still there this morning & managed a few bad shots in bad light... will try again later.
Well done... & thank you once again

Great find - that created quite a bit of excitement on Lamma this morning.  Last seen heading round the point towards the power station, but with luck it may make its way back to the harbour.
who sit and watch...

There are four previous records, 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2012, all in spring between 13 February and 28 April.

Brendan had the last one, on 28 April 2012.
