Shing Mun Reservoir

Shing Mun is located to the southwest of Tai Po Kau, and the majority of species recorded in Tai Po Kau are also seen here. There are several trails and roads around the reservoir, which allow birders to cover a wide area. The Tai Shing Stream, which flows into the head of the reservoir, is one of the best places for bird watching. The best woodland is an old fung shui wood is at the far end of the reservoir. It is possible to walk from Shing Mun to Tai Po Kau, Tai Mo Shan and Ng Tung Chai, but a good map is essential.






Special species: Hainan Blue Flycatcher*, Rufous-capped Babbler*, Rufous-necked Scimitar Babbler, Plumbeous Redstart*, Fork-tailed Sunbird, thrushes, flycatchers and warblers
Suggested time: 3 hours at the site
Transportation: Access is by Green minibus no. 82 from Shiu Wo Street in near Tsuen Wan MTR station, which goes directly to the Country Park
