Tap Mun

Tap Mun is an island at the junction of Tolo Channel and Mirs Bay. The ferry journey through Tolo Harbour and Mirs Bay is especially good for seabirds including terns and phalaropes during the migratory and breeding seasons. White-bellied Sea Eagle is frequently seen from the boat, either soaring overhead or perching on cliff top trees.





Special species: Aleutian Tern*, Black-naped Tern, Bridled Tern, Roseate Tern, Greater Crested Tern*, Little Tern*, White-winged Black Tern*, Common Tern*, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Ancient Auk*, Pacific Reef Egret.
Suggested time: 2 hours at the site
Transportation: Ferries only visit the island on weekends and public holidays. These leave from the Ma Lui Shui ferry pier in Tolo Harbour (ten minutes walk from University KCR station) at 0830; there is also regular ferry at Wong Shek Pier in Sai Kung.
