me_domchan, Nice to see you too. A question for you, I am having my new birding lens ready tomorrow and wish to go for a test shoot on Sunday, as I only have experience in shooting in urban areas, any suggestion as to where to shoot in the wild? I have not much idea on where to go, just come across some location like Mei Po from the "Photographic guide to the birds of HK" but don't know where exactly should I go. Any suggestion? I plan to go early in the morning, and any kind of bird is fine. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to bird photography! You can try your luck in Mai Po, there are many fish ponds outside the nature reserve where you can test your lens. Bird spieces includes: egrets, kingfishers, prinia etc.

| Hi 容姨姨, Welcome to HKBWS BBS and to bird photography. Please kindly take a look of the message below regarding posting photo into this BBS. (please kindly mention the date and location of each your photos.) Visiting Mai Po in August may make you feel disappointed. You may try visiting Long Valley in early morning. If you are an HKBWS member, you can join the small group outing held on 21 August. It is an outing designed for members with long lens and want to take photo of wader at boardwalk hide during high tide in early morning. Regards, Forrest

Welcome to HKBWS BBS, 容姨姨. I will be going to Long Valley this Sunday, I can show you the way but cannot accompany you as I am doing bird survey. There are birds like Cattle Egret, Plain Prinia, Black Drongo, Greater Painted-snipe etc. Carmen

Thanks all. Sorry I didn't read the rules first. I am a member of BWS for 6 months, but I am occupied with business and family that I can only have one Sunday every month for bird watching/shooting. I planned to join a trip to Tai Mo Shan a couple of months ago but my son ran a fever so I have to default. This Sunday trip is already full so no luck for me. I really wish to join those guys who use their long teles so that I can learn more from them. How can I recognise the outings are of which type? Bird watching or shooting? Carmen, I think I will choose Long Valley, but I need to drive. Can you show me the way? What is the best time to shoot? I can go before dawn if needed. Thanks in advance.
