Kea 啄羊鸚鵡 Nestor notabilis
New Zealand 新西蘭

My friends took it in New Zealand and these birds were so aggressive attacking their cars when they stopped by.

What is it actually? It'll be good if Chinese name can be provided.
THX!

That looks like a Kea - Nestor notabilis - found in the South Island of New Zealand. Sorry - can't give you a Chinese name for it!!!

They are big birds, weighing up to 1 kilogram and are notorious for causing damage to  parked cars, trains and so on. Some people say that they make their nests out of car windscreen wipers, but I don't believe it!
Cheers

Oh thanks!
My friends said they really tried to pull the wipers off the windscreen!  No joking!

this is a Kea, not the KaKa, Kaka live on the north island, so this photo should be taken in the south island.

Its a Kea (啄羊鸚鵡, Sheep-pecking Parrot in Chinese), which lives in the South Island

http://www.nzbirds.com/Kea.html

Kaka (白頂啄羊鸚鵡, White-capped Sheep-pecking Parrot in Chinese)is its cousin, which lives in the North Island

http://www.nzbirds.com/Kaka.html

According to the info., both of them probably came from the same ancestor from Australia 20 millions ago.  Kea had to face a harsher environment than its cousin, so it develops a more aggressive temperament. It is the world's only mountain parrot. It is bold enough to attack live merino sheep.

Hello again!

I think that the Kaka is found on South Island, and Stewart Island, as well as North Island. In fact, according to The Field Guide to the Birds of New Zealand, by Barrie Heather and Hugh Robertson, the North Island and South Island birds are different subspecies - septentrionalis and meridionalis respectively.

They are more common in  North Island than South Island, but are under threat from rats, stoats, possums etc.

Kia ora!
