燕鷗島成為「具特殊科學價值地點」 Tern Island SSSI

燕鷗島已於2005年12月被規劃為「 具 特 殊 科 學 價 值 地 點 」。
Tern Island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest in December 2005.
規劃署：
「 具 特 殊 科 學 價 值 地 點 」 可 以 是 陸 上 或 海 上 的 地 點 ， 在 動 植 物 、 地 理 或 地 質 上 具 有 特 色 ， 因 而 具 有 特 殊 價 值 。
在 「 具 特 殊 科 學 價 值 地 點 」 內 ， 通 常 是 不 會 批 准 進 行 新 發 展 ， 但 若 用 作 保 育 用 途 則 作 別 論 。
Planning Department:
“SSSIs” may be land based or marine sites, which are of special interest because of their flora, fauna, geographical or geological features. “SSSIs” are identified by the AFCD.
Normally no new development will be permitted within a “SSSI” unless it is necessary for conservation of the site.

SSSI designation is meant for controlling the impact of new development.
Regarding conservation, we understand that AFCD will carry out patrols to the island on sundays and public holidays during the breeding season, as in previous years. The Tern Group will also continue with the surveys and monitor human disturbances to the island.
將燕鷗島劃為「具特殊科學價值地點」可以防止該地被發展破壞。
至於保育方面，在燕鷗繁殖期間，我們知道漁護署會如往年一樣，在星期日及假日 進行巡邏，而燕鷗組亦會繼續做調查，並監察當地的人為干擾。
