Ho Chung

An area of woodland in Sai Kung on the east side of Kowloon Peak. Here, the upper valley is covered with secondary woodland. The lower section is a patchwork of fields and hamlets. The woodland is an attractive place for migrants or winter visiting forest birds, and the lower valley is especially good for open country birds such as buntings and pipits and Bright-capped Cisticola, especially between October and April.

To get there, it is best to start form Choi Hung MTR station. To access the upper woodland, take a taxi up Fei Ngo Shan Road until you see a green rubbish collection building. Take the narrow road on the right and bird along the paths on both sides. If you wish to go to the lower part take minubus number 1 from Choi Hung MTR station to Sai Kung. Get off at the road junction (beyond the Lee Kum Kee fractory) and then walk to the carpark.
