Hwamei (Lamma Island)

Hwamei (Lamma Island)

Harry on Lamma got some great shots of some immature a couple of days ago..... pointed me in the right direction but I couldn't see them.
As I was setting up, managed to get a snap shot of this adult .
Not quite as sharp as I would like, but the ss was too slow for such a heavy setup.
Has been 2 years since my last Hwamei shot, but nothing as clean as this. Are a very difficult bird to get in the open.

Hey Guy, don't knock it - fine shot of a skulker.

Thanks Andrew, but would've been nice to get it spot on with such a great pose.

Another attempt from today....... but missed the critical focus   ops:

Same specs as above

The first posting running down from the top is really lovely. The focus on the eye is critical but that elegant looking back is intriguing, giving the shot a very artistic taste. It is more of a portraiture shot than a sheer record of an avian species. Terrific.
