I was impressed with the reports about the Ricoh GX100 so I bought it.  I liked the Electronic Viewfinder and RAW capability.  It also has a very sharp 24 -72 mm lens which has be reported to as sharp as the Canon G6.
I took it out yesterday without an adapter for my scope but I have now got the Ricoh original adapter which I used today (43 mm thread ).
It feels very nice and handles reasonably well with my Swarovski fixed eyepieces with a little adjustment.

Neil,

The wide angle range is a waste for digiscopic usage.  How about the sharpness? Is it comparable to the Nikon 8400?

        I haven't done a direct comparison yet but my initial feeling is that it is very close to the 8400 and may be better. If you have a look at the cropped night heron image on my Flickr site

it shows good detail.
I haven't tried the Electronic Viewfinder yet but I'm going to Mai Po tomorrow so will try it out.
It's faster in processing the image data in JPEG and RAW which is an advantage but it is not as strong as the 8400 so has to be handled with more care.

ps I wanted a wide angle camera for my trip to Egypt next month so that is why I liked it.

I have been using the Ricoh GX100 for digiscoping , although not as much as I should.  It was my main camera on my recent trip to Egypt as it's wide angle lens was very useful for photographing large pyramids and inside temples.  Here are a few digiscoped images. I'm very impressed with the detail captured. Neil.
