Pied Avocet
						
						
																											Covered with white plumage except for black scapula and mantle sides, decorated with blacks from the crown to hindneck, the pied avocet is a striking wader. Swaying its neck from side to side, scything its narrow elongated up-curved bill across the water surface, this avocet takes the stage in a shallow brackish water pond in Long Valley in the afternoon of 23rd of December 2012.
