World's largest bulbul flock

World's largest bulbul flock

Some shaky video of parts of a huge swarm of Chinese bulbuls that headed northeast from Chek Chau, Tolo Channel, on morning of 2 April. Seen from ferry to Tung Ping Chau; identified as this species has been seen in very large flocks in this area in previous springs at this time. The fourth time I've seen swarms of Chinese bulbuls in the area; but the largest single flock.
Around five thousand in the swarm, I thought; won't be very accurate = was rather like seeing a swarm of bees.

May well not be world's largest bulbul flock (hah, maybe made for interesting title) - but bulbuls generally not known for swarming, that I'm aware of.

To me, real interesting there are such gatherings; I see Avifauna includes sighting of thousands in Sai Kung area during December 1959. I'd otherwise thought these birds must be gathering in area as get set for spring migration, and maybe assembling as there is a food source. There were several mulberry trees with fruit on Tung Ping Chau (where many bird droppings under some trees, suggesting a big bulbul flock may have stopped there too), yet plenty of ripe fruit remaining.

Note to mods: not sure what the "first parameter" should be for youtube; I tried "movie", which seemed to be correct answer, without success. Nor did URL work. But then, I don't like discuz! [why can't I simply choose youtube option, then input URL - as works with other software for simple embedding?)
I mean, look at those emoticon things; bleachh

Below is embed code for video, which you might find useful if can edit as html.
