Ultramarine Flycatcher photographed at KFBG 嘉道理農場有白眉藍姬鶲

The bird in the link below was photographed at KFBG on Friday 5th January. It was seen in the lower part of the farm just uphill from the wild Boar enclosure.

It would be just the second record for Hong Kong, although the first was considered to be an escape. The first was also at KFBG. There is a paper about this bird on p203 of the 1999-2000 Hong Kong Bird Report.

The closest known location of this bird to Hong Kong is western Yunnan.

The bird in the photo shows pale pink legs and pale brown overall tone.
But Ultramarine Flycatcher is black legs and, from the photo of 1999 individual, pale grey in general tone.
So, I think it's unlikely an Ultramarine Flycatcher.

Agreed that there are odd features on this bird - especially leg colour and mantle colour, but it certainly does not fit any other Chinese, Indian or SE Asian Flycatcher.

I would welcome other suggestions for a flycatcher with blue wings and tail and a clear wingbar, perhaps from outside the region.

Of all the possible species Ultramarine the closest

A male Ultramarine Flycatcher with mostly adult feathers was seen at Kadoorie Farm this morning. I was fund by Richard Lewthwaite around 10:45am.

I seems likely that this is the bird that was seen earlier on in the winter.
