Mai Po 米埔 Summer 2011 夏

Six Red-billed Starling on Gei wai  #7 yesterday (21 June). An uncommon Summer visitor to Mai Po.

Previous sightings (from MP bird records)
Summer 2010 x 1 (June)
Summer 2009 x 1 (June and July)
Summer 2007 x 6 (June)

Also a small flock of White-headed Munia feeding outside the Education Centre.

This morning on Gei wai #16/17:

Asian Dowitcher x 1
Gull-billed Tern x 3
Terek Sandpiper x 6
Black-tailed Godwit x 8
Grey Plover x 7
Wood Sandpiper x 1
Plus a small flock of Eurasian Curlew and Whimbrel

The last few days a starling flock (~60 birds) has been feeding in and around Gei wai #7. Its a mixed flock of White Shouldered and Red-billed, but I believe there's at least one Chestnut-tailed Starling in amongst them.

A Red-necked Phalarope on Pond #15a yesterday (06 July). According to the Avifauna of HK this is an uncommon record in Summer.
