Fujifilm X100 for Digiscoping

Fujifilm X100 for Digiscoping

The X100 is an interesting camera from Fujifilm with some nice features that make it suitable for digiscoping.

The most interesting feature is the Hybrid Viewfinder ( Optical and Electronic ) which is switchable between optical and electronic. When the camera is on the scope you see what the scope sees and it's very high resolution.  The LCD is very good , although not rotatable, and it will shoot at up to 5 frames per second.
The 35 mm Pancake lens is a little short for a 20-60 zoom eyepiece (vignetting) , except up around 60x, but works well with a 25-50x zoom or a 30x fixed.

An interesting combination and obviously, the quality of images from the big CMOS sensor will surely excel those from the smaller ones of  the compact digital cameras. Is there any plug on the X100 for cabled shutter release? Would be grateful if you would upload more photos for viewing.  Pete

I'm loving the camera for just walking about but it's Hybrid Electronic/optical viewfinder is very good too , especially for digiscoping outdoors. It doesn't appear though that Fuji have a remote for it but at up to 5 fps ( You can select 1,3 or 5 )it shouldn't be necessary.
I have a set of photos here http://www.flickr.com/photos/7892550@N03/sets/72157627549470697/
Some are digiscoped.
