荔枝角公園隨想 - a story in Lai Chi Kok Park

荔枝角公園隨想 - a story in Lai Chi Kok Park

News of the four rarities (Eurasian Woodcock, Slaty-legged Crake, Grey Nightjar and Northern Boobok) at Lai Chi Kok Park was first reported at and spread through another forum (hkwildlife.net), which has now become THE PLATFORM for sharing photos as well as information about birds.  This is not the first time – I recall that the Baillon’s Crake did not appear at this Forum until after 1 week.  It seems photographers will continue to get the news before birdwatchers.

This Forum has failed as a exchange centre for photos and information about birds, and the Society is facing more and more competition and challenges from other forums.

Thank you for Owen's latest update.
Thank you for webcreeper's prompt translation
and thank you for all photographers whom post the night birds photos on this web which enable more birdwatchers to share the joy.

It seems someone bought reporters to the park this evening. Maybe the Lai Chi Kok Park story will soon reported on newspaper. Really a funny experience to watch the friendly night birds at the park.

It seems Joe has brought us to an new and broad topic.
Though I'm not representing HKBWS, I'd like to state a few points:

1. The one whom brought reporter to the park is not representing HKBWS. Please read the detail of Ming Pao for the title of the man.

2. Bird watching and photography is no conflict with nature conservation. The problem only happen on the conduct of individual birdwatcher or photographer.

3. Sharing bird news, especially the migratory birds, is encouraging more people to enjoy birdwatching. It's birdwatcher's own decision to disclose the location if he think it's too sensitive.
