Mai Po 米埔 Spring 2008 春

Mai Po - Weds 26 & Fri 28 Mar 08

These two days have produced some good birds at Mai Po, with a good variety of gulls, and waders :

Common Redshank - 1
Spotted Redshank - 30
Green Sandpiper
Wood Sandpiper

Little Ringed Plover
Greater Sandplover - 5
Kentish Plover
Grey Plover
Grey-headed Lapwing - 1

Black-tailed Godwit
Bar-tailed Godwit
Long-billed Dowitcher - 1
Common Snipe
Eurasian Curlew
Eastern Curlew  - 1
Whimbrel - 1

Avocet
Black-winged Stilt
Oriental Pratincole - 2

(also Greater Painted Snipe and "Swintail" Snipe were at Long Valley)

Gulls:

Black-headed Gull
Saunders' Gull - 1

Kamchatka Gull - 1
Black-tailed Gull - 2

Heuglin's Gull
Yellow-legged Gull
Vega Gull - 1
Slaty-backed Gull - 2

There were also 4 Falcated Duck (3 females and 1 male) from the new hide

Hi Bena

th flycatcher in the pic is a female Narcissus (note the reddish tail and stubby bill).

Not sure who submitted it or which day, but I can see no record of a female Narc.

Saunders' Gull - 1 - very late record
