A probable Saker at Mai Po

These photos are very interesting - thank for posting Allen and Peter/Michelle.

I thinnk they show different birds.

The bird I saw was paler like Allen's pix, but also showed strong streaking on the breast.

I think Peter & Michelle's pix are of a Peregrine, as are Jacky' wonderful pix of the falcon with the Black-headed Gull. Both birds show much more of a dark hood than the bird I saw, which had a huge white supercilium with a pale coffee-coloured head. It also showed a tail that was distinctly longer than the primaries.

I was confident of my identification of a Saker this morning, but the pix posted here of at least 2 other Peregrines is making me a bit nervous!  Hoping at leat one of the very poor digipix I took this morning on other peoples' cameras will come out ok.

Hoping to go back for another look tomorrow morning.

Cheers
