Mai Po 米埔 Summer 2008 夏

Black-tailed Gull is pretty unusual in HK in August - good record!

Yesterday I had 24 wader spp at Mai Po between 0740 and 0945. These included:

Black-winged Stilt
Eurasian Curlew
Whimbrel
Black-tailed Godwit
Asiatic Dowitcher
Gallinago snipe sp.
Common Greenshank
Common Redshank
Spotted Redshank
Marsh Sandpiper
Wood Sandpiper

Grey-tailed Tattler
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper
Broad-billed Sandpiper
Curlew Sandpiper
Red-necked Stint
Long-toed Stint

Ruff

The Ruff was a male coming out of breeding plumage with a white head and neck, with three black feathers on the back of the head and a broad black band on breast.

The other highlight was the already reported Black-shouldered Kite.
