Shrike

Shrike

Could it be Bull-headed Shrike?  Taken at Sai Kung today.  Thanks in advance.

Yes, definitely.  It looks like a female to me.  You should check the book on this.

Dear Chairman,

Checked two books and also checked many previous postings on HKBWS web about bull-headed shrike.  It did not look the same.  I was thinking about whether it is a young Brown Shrike or sub-species of Brown Shrike.

Thanks anyway for pointing out.  Appreciate.

I agree that this is a Bull-headed Shrike.
Note the rufous mask (blackish on brown shrike), rufous crown, slightly greyish back, dark wings with white patch and longish tail.

There seem to have been quite a few records of Bull-headed Shrikes this winter.
