On Po Toi today a Juvenile Chestnut Bellied Rock Thrush

Surprising to see this guy up in the trees.  I presume a juvenile.

Rock Thrush

Hi Neil,

Really nice picture !  Your original file title of "Blue Rock Thrush" should be correct !

Due to the pattern of red on the belly, I think this is a "philippensis" (migratory race) Blue Rock Thrush.

On Chestnut-bellied, the "chestnut" should go right up to the chin, and there would be no blue "thigh" as seen here.

I agree - a juvenile/first winter male philippensis Blue Rock Thrush.
