Seicercus Warbler at Fung Yuen

Lack of a wing-bar makes me think of Grey-crowned Warbler (S.tephrocephalus) or Plain-tailed Warbler (S.soror).

The "commonest" Seicercus warbler in Hong Kong is Bianchi's Warbler (Seicercus valentini)which usually shows a yellow wing-bar.

It is hard to be sure which species this is.  Until recently, all the above were considered "races" of the same species.

Anyway, a rare bird and interesting record for people to discuss!

Hi Cherry,

Woo, new bird for fung yuen! Thanks for your finding.
Where did you find it? Could you describe the location? Finding in bird flock?
The best bird for fung yuen in winter 08-09.

Agree with John, only Grey-crowned or Plain-tailed to be fit to this warbler.
However, do you have more photos on the head and the bill.

Thanks,
George

Many thanks to John and George.

This is another photo of the bird but sorry that it still cannot show the head of the bird clearly.

There is a large fruiting tree at Fung Yuen and a lot of bulbuls and some thrushes feeding on it. From the area of this fruiting tree, there is a narrow path leading to a large area of grass. This warbler was found near the end of the narrow path, near the large area of grass.

Can White-spectacled be ruled out on these photos?
