Hodgson's hawk cuckoo
At the moment, there are two male birds vying for a mating partner.
This morning, both birds were heard and seen flying and perching within sight (most of the time hidden nearby and non-photographable) at Picnic Area 2 (traditionally known just as 'the picnic area'). So this week provides one of the best chance to see and/or photo this species.
Thus said, it still took us two hours or more to get a clear sight of one of them.
The group of birdwatchers/photographers present numbered about eight. Our joint effort paid off well!
