Lai Chi Chong (Siberian & Orange Headed Thrush)

Lai Chi Chong (Siberian & Orange Headed Thrush)

AT LAI CHI CHONG (Just before the emergency hotline, there is a very small stream crossed the road) on 2.6.2014

1 female Siberian Thrush and 2 Orange Headed Thrush ( 1 Adult and 1 Juvenile)

A very late record.

Any photos?

No, I didn't bring my camera.

In April I had an Orange-headed Thrush in song one morning at Pak Sha O, which is not far from here. It seems like the species bred, which is good, and not commonly proved in HK.

As for the Siberian Thrush, this is highly unlikely in the summer. Could it have been another Orange-headed Thrush?

I think it is strange for the record of Siberian Thrush. But i do not have other idea for the bird.
The bird is brown with bars on the underparts. Yellow legs and a clear eyebrow. I waited for an hour at
the site until I had a good view for the whole bird. Any other idea??

The orange-headed Thrush is likely to be a resident. There should be some summer records in HK in the past, including one camera-trap record at Lin Ma Hang in mid summer.

But because its habitat (dense shrubs), it may be overlooked

Great finding. Awaiting their breeding record.
