正當全神貫注仰看燈塔動靜，我突然回頭（信直覺！ ），
嘩  ， 一群喜鵲在球場上集會！
While I concentrated on the spotlights, I suddenly turned head (trust your vibes! ).
Wah! A flock of magpies assembled in the field.

轉眼又過了一週，就如場記婆婆所說，麻鷹和喜鵲仍然繼續鬥法，而麻鷹先生出場 的時間也增加了。
As noted by Etta, the conflict continued throughout last week. Mr. Kite turned up more frequently than before.
麻鷹先生有時會在高空收起隻翼，扮蝙蝠俠向鳥巢俯衝，似乎要唬嚇喜鵲。
Sometimes Mr. Kite would dive towards the nest, as if to scare the Magpies.
星期日（5/3/06）下午有多點時間觀察，見到麻鷹夫婦先後一共幹了六次，每次三 、四秒。我不禁替牠們擔心：鳥巢還未有著落，如果真的有孕，要到哪裡去下蛋呢 ？
I saw the Kites did this 6 times last Sunday (5/3/06). If successful, where could they lay their eggs.
曾經不只一次，牠們幹完之後便向喜鵲巢進攻，但是都不成功。
Sometimes they would mount an attack against the Magpies after the act.
最後麻鷹太太好像不想再幹了，飛到以前未曾停過的燈柱暫避。
Mrs. Kite seemed to be fed up at last, and took refuge at a post she had never visited before.
經過多天的努力，喜鵲巢已經差不多完成，頂和入口都有了。
The Magpie nest is almost finished, complete with cover and entrance.

似是喜鵲巢 Looked like a Magpie nest.
另外，同日亦看到麻鷹在坐巢。
On the same day, I also seen Black Kite sitting nest.
...
究竟，這兩對故事中的喜鵲與麻鷹，會拉鋸多久... 
So, how long would this story's 'Magpie vs Kite' nest-battle last...

由於工作繁忙，今天才有時間補回兩週來的劇情發展。
I couldn't find time for the story in the last 2 weeks until today.
麻鷹仍舊守著喜鵲巢，上星期牠們似乎比較積極，多次落到巢上去，但是每次都被 喜鵲趕走。
The Kites were still lingering around the nest. They seemed to be taking more positive actions last week, but still in vain.
喜鵲先生努力護巢，連偶然過來「八卦」一下的八哥亦不歡迎。
Mr. Magpie does not welcome any bird bigger than bulbuls, including these curious Crested Mynahs.
球場原來是喜鵲黃昏回家休息前的敘會地點，每隻都被著全套黑白色晚禮服出席， 就像開派對。
The playground turned out to be an evening assembly point for Magpies before they roost. Each individual joins the party in a black-and-white suit.
星期二見到喜鵲太太腹部有點隆起，似乎已經有孕了。
Mrs. Magpie appeared to be pregnant last Tuesday.
可能因為這個緣故，喜鵲先生更加努力了。
This may explain why Mr. Magpie became more aggressive towards the Kites.
到黃昏大燈亮了仍在附近守候。
He remained on watch even when the lights were on.
昨天下午忽然聽到一聲鳶鳴，連忙到窗前一看，原來麻鷹太太就在天台上！
Heard a Kite call yesterday afternoon – Mrs. Kite was outside my window!
她逗留了約四鐘，讓我有足夠時間拿出相機拍了幾張。唉！我明白你的處境，但是 我也愛莫能助啊！
She stayed for about 4 minutes, giving me enough time for a few shots! Sorry, I fully understand your problem, but what could I do?

過去一星期情況又起了變化，星期六（1/4/06）下午見到麻鷹夫婦落到巢上，像是 要據為己有…
The situation changed again this week – the Kites landed on the Magpie nest this Saturday (1/4/06), as if to reclaim it again.
不時也有一些交配行為。
There were also some mating activity.
喜鵲只出現了一次，但是很快就走了，連在巢邊的黑領椋鳥也沒有理會。
The Magpie appeared briefly only once, ignoring the Black-necked Starlings at its doorsteps.
星期日（2/4/06）早上麻鷹更加大膽，落到巢上最少有五六次，而喜鵲卻完全不見 縱影，相信已經棄巢了。 
The Magpies disappeared completely from the scene on Sunday morning, while the Kites landed on the nest boldly at least 5 to 6 times. The Magpies have probably abandoned their nest.
上星期曾見過大嘴烏鴉在附近出現，不知是否曾經又來破壞，逐走喜鵲？喜鵲夫婦 會不會不勝麻鷹騷擾，雖然爭到地盤也住不安寧，決定離開？又還是他們其中一位 已經遭到不測…？真的耐人尋味。
Could it be the result of an attack by the Large-billed Crows sighted last week? Or did the Magpies decided to leave because they couldn’t stand the Kites any more? Or did one of them have an accident…? It is really difficult to tell.
回頭再說麻鷹：麻鷹太太之前在喜鵲巢受過不少苦頭，似乎對巢產生了「喜鵲恐懼 症」，不敢獨自落到巢上。麻鷹先生似乎很明白這一點，銜了一些不知是甚麼的食 物引太太過來。
Now back to the Kites: Mrs. Kite seemed to have developed “Magpie-phobia” after being bullied by the Magpies for so many weeks. Mr. Kite seemed to understand this, so he tried to attract his mate to the nest with some food.
麻鷹太太過來搶過食物，馬上又飛回C燈柱去享用（喜鵲巢在B燈柱）。
Mrs. Kite grabbed the food immediately but she preferred to consume it at the nearby Post C (the nest is at Post B).
麻鷹先生見太太不肯過來，便飛過去她對面守候。
Mr. Kite couldn’t do anything but stayed at a nearby lamp.
麻鷹太太吃得津津有味，而且一吃就是半小時，先生似乎等得不耐煩，過去撞了牠 一把，食物因此丟了。
Mr. Kite finally lost his patience and nudged his wife, knocking the food off.
麻鷹太太飛到平台上找，但是找不到。
Mrs. Kite tried to find the food again on the platform, but without success.
之後麻鷹先生又落到巢上，再引太太過來。
Mr. Kite returned to the nest, trying to encourage his wife to come along.
麻鷹太太猶疑了一會之後，也飛了過去。
Mrs. Kite did come after some hesitation.
兩隻麻鷹將喜鵲的巢材弄得天翻地覆，不知是否要「鵲為鳶用」，將巢改裝成自己 的新居？
The Kites made a mess of the Magpie nest – were they trying to convert it for their use?
麻鷹太太來了不久，麻鷹先生便飛走，停到C燈柱上，讓太太獨自留在巢上。
After Mrs. Kite joined him, Mr. Kite left the nest for Post C, leaving her at the nest.
麻鷹太太似乎對以前喜鵲的攻擊還有陰影，在巢上待了不夠兩分鐘便飛回先生那邊 。
Mrs. Kite wouldn’t stay long at the Magpie nest – the previous attacks were probably too painful to forget.
如是者麻鷹先生多次引太太到巢上，然後自己飛到C燈柱上觀望，可是麻鷹太太每 次都不敢獨自久留。當麻鷹先生不在附近的時候，太太更只會守在C燈柱，完全不 敢過去。
Mr. Kite kept trying to bring his mate to the nest, leaving her at the nest each time. Mrs. Kite never stayed alone for longer than 2 minutes. When Mr. Kite was not around, she remained at Post C all the time.

之後我又到球場實地觀察，已找不到那裡長駐的喜鵲夫婦，只見這燈上平平穩穩地 放著一枝樹枝，似是喜鵲愛用的巢材，但牠們到了那裡去呢？
I could find the Magpies resident at the playground anymore, except this carefully balanced twig, which could be good nest material. Where have they gone?
有人辭官歸故里，有人漏夜趕科場，一對黑領椋鳥在黃昏時分才來築巢，令人費解 。
While the Magpies have abandoned their nest, a pair of Black-necked Starlings was starting theirs – in the evening?
而且巢位正是大嘴烏鴉和白頸鴉最喜歡站的地方──唉！祝牠們好運吧！
I wish them good luck - the post is frequented by both the Large-billed Crows and Collared Crows!
此外，也遁聲找到了叫得非常起勁的噪鵑先生。
I also Mr. Koel, whose love song could be heard even from my home.
故事發展到這個地步，《四喜臨門》已經不合時宜，而且有點諷刺，叫《喜鵲的故 事 III》又冷落了麻鷹，就改名為《鳥巢的故事》吧！
As the story unfolds, “Fourfold Delight” has become more or less an irony. To pay due respect for the Kites, I change the title of this post to “A Nesting Story”.

轉眼又過了兩個星期，故事仍有新發展。
The story continued in the last two weeks.
首先是麻鷹多年的鄰居－白胸翡翠－回來了。
White-breasted Kingfisher, an old neighbour of the Kites, has returned.
而大嘴烏鴉又時常出現，喜鵲棄巢，以牠們的嫌疑最大。
The Large-billed Crows also turned up frequently. They are the prime suspects who drove away the Magpies.
麻鷹夫婦仍然在巢附近流連…
The Kites were still around…
不時還有交配行為。
and mated occasionally.
喜鵲夫婦出現過一次，但是只在週圍活動，似乎未敢回巢。
The Magpies returned once, but still dared not return to their nest.
一對黑領椋鳥也看中了喜鵲巢，相信是上集「趕科場」的一對吧！
A pair of Black-necked Starlings took possession of the nest – could they be the same pair who appeared in the last episode?
雖然並不見牠們築巢或孵卵，但是卻連麻鷹也要趕走。
Although they did not build or breed, they kept the Kites away.
成功退敵，互相鼓勵！
Hurrah - she's gone! Give me five!
別說喜鵲，麻鷹就連黑領椋鳥也打不過，真的有負猛禽的稱號！
Although the Kites are raptors, I think they are chicken-heart!
今早球場上出現了另外兩隻麻鷹，牠們以高速互相追逐。
Two other Kites were chasing each other over the playground this morning.
忽然擱在B燈柱的便梯上，動彈不得。
Suddenly they were stuck on the cat ladder on post B.
牠們四爪互扣，會不會是在玩「無敵風火輪」時出事呢。
They talons were locked – did they had an accident while cart-wheeling?
我連忙換衣服，準備到球場上看個究竟，心想必要時可能要請救兵。
幸好牠們不久便懂得鬆爪，回復了自由。
I hurried to get dressed, trying to rush to the scene to investigate. Fortunately, they unlocked and freed themselves after a few minutes.

三個星期過去了，繁殖季節悄悄地溜走，麻鷹、喜鵲和黑領椋鳥都沒有用到喜鵲築 的巢。
黑領椋鳥霸佔了巢位，差不多每天都花點時間守在巢邊，但是多數是孤獨的一隻。
麻鷹太太好像依依不捨，每天早上和下午大多都會回來一兩次，
在C 燈柱停留一會，長嘯幾聲才離開。
喜鵲出現的時間最少，多日來只見過幾次。
As the breeding season slipped quietly away, none of the Black Kites, Magpies and Black-necked Starling managed to use the nest.
The Black-necked Starling took possession of the site, spending some time on watch everyday, usually alone.
Mrs. Kite seems just wouldn’t forget, paying visits in the morning and afternoon nearly everyday.
She stayed on post C for a while, making some long whines before leaving.
The Magpies were seen only a few times.
15/4/06
麻鷹太太停在巢邊叫
Mrs. Kite whined at the nest.
也曾大膽地落到巢上
and finally gathered enough courage to land on it
黑領椋鳥向她攻擊
She was attacked by the Black-necked Starlings.
16/4/06
第二天仍然互相對峙
The stand-off continued on the following day.
經過幾次衝突之後，麻鷹很少再過去有巢的燈柱了
After a few skirmishes, Mrs. Kite finally learnt to stay away.
2/5/06
23/4/06
黑領椋鳥在巢上添了一些標記──一些有顏色的巢材，但是沒有孵蛋育雛的跡象
The Black-necked Starling marked the nest with some coloured material, but there was no sign of breeding.
26/4/06
這天喜鵲銜來樹枝放在 C 燈柱，以乎有築巢的衝動
The Magpies placed some twigs at post C – want to start a new nest?
但是只此一次，到今天仍沒有進展，放棄了。
However that was the only attempt. No further action since then.
