Hong Kong Bird Race 2010 cum Fundraising Event
To Conserve the Birds of Hong Kong

"Hong Kong Bird Race 2010" is now open for application!

 

There is already 500 species of records of bird species in the wild in Hong Kong, that is about one-third of the number of China mainland, and one-twentieth of the world total. The watching of birds is an excellent means of presenting concepts of environment and biodiversity to the public, because birds are beautiful, easy for most people to relate to and not too difficult to see especially in the urban areas. We therefore propose to use birds as the vehicle to instill an appreciation of the variety of life forms that lies at our doorsteps.

"Hong Kong Bird Race" is a bird watching competition among the racing teams. Participants are required to identify bird species as many as possible within 24 hours within Hong Kong territory. The team who get the highest number of bird species will become the winner.

You are cordially invited to participate in the "Hong Kong Bird Race 2010" in the following ways:

	take part in the bird race with your family members and friends, and raise donation from other people; or
	make donation to one of the racing teams that you support; or
	make donation to the Society directly.

Details:

	Date & Time: 15:30, 3 April 2010 (Saturday) to 15:30, 4 April 2010 (Sunday) (Totally 24 hours)
	Number of Team members: 3 to 6 in each team, members and non-members are both welcome
	Categories: Open Team Members , friends, general public are all welcome Family Team (Swarovski Cup) At least 2 members in the team are immediate family members Student Team Students from primary or secondary schools
	Awards:: Top Donor (Team) One Top Donor (Individual) One HK Bird Race President Cup Each Group with a Champion, 1st Runner-up & 2nd Runner-up HK Bird Race Best Record Each Group with a Best Record Award
	Registration Fee for each team: Open Team HK$500 Family Team HK$300 Student Team HK$300
	Mock Campaign: A mock campaign on 27 March 2010 is open for all participants.
	Transportation: Participants are required to arrange their own transportation during the racing day.

	Related Events: Opening Ceremony An opening ceremony will be held in Long Valley at 1:30 pm. At least one representative from each team should attend the ceremony. Dinner Gathering A dinner is organised at the City Chinese Restaurant, City University of Hong Kong, 18:30 on 4 April 2010. Results of the competition will be announced during the dinner. Prize Presentation Ceremony The prize presentation ceremony will be held later after the racing day.
