[Download Protect Barn Swallow Poster]
Barn Swallows breed in Hong Kong from March to July each year, often building their nests under eaves. As Barn Swallows share living spaces with humans, it is always a challenge for us to minimize their impact on our daily lives without disturbing them.
Fortunately, many citizens have already come up with different creative solutions to reduce bird-human conflicts. For example, some use cardboard or containers to create "dropping trays" beneath bird nests, while some put up small notices to remind people to be mindful of the nests.
The theme of World Migratory Bird Day is “Shared Spaces,” emphasizing the protection of migratory birds through creating bird-friendly cities and communities. To raise public awareness about protecting swallows in our communities, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society has designed a "Protect Barn Swallow" poster for the citizens to refer, download, or printing. This poster serves as a friendly reminder for pedestrians to watch out for droppings and avoid disturbing wild birds. Please remember to obtain approval from the property owner or manager before posting.
