About The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society

Founded in 1957, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society (HKBWS) has evolved from an ornithological society into a leading environmental organization dedicated to the appreciation and conservation of wild birds. Through research, habitat management, environmental monitoring, conservation advocacy and education, HKBWS works to protect Hong Kong’s natural habitats so that people and wildlife can thrive together.

HKBWS collaborates locally and internationally and is a member of Birdlife International, the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). HKBWS is a registered charitable organization under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance.
